This is a sub-corollary named "Antyayor-dasake" to the sutra "Urdhva Tiryagbhyaam" which implies that the rule is applicable not only to the squaring of a number ending ending in 5, but also to the multiplication of two numbers whose last digit together total 10 and whose previous part is exactly the same. |
